The Impact of Social Media 

 

Whilst researching into gang culture I found that one of the reasons why  the recent London riots got as bad as it did was because of the use of social media like BBM, Facebook, Twitter and many more. We live in highly technologically advanced world which means information spreads rapidly.  This video explains the bad implications that media could have which I found interesting and thought that we could use to implement a message about the nagative consequences of social media. This also spurred on from a recent documentary I watched which is on the 'British Gang Culture' page of my wix - where gang members are filming their criminal activities and uploading them onto video platforms like YouTube and then sharing them with other young people. This could have both negative and positive consquences for exmaple the police could use such evidence to prosecute criminals however if these videos are uploaded they could either infuence other young people to copy their behaviour (copy cat behaviour) which we witnessed during the 2011 London Riots.
